The rules of play.

These short terms explain what you can expect from StoppageTime and what we expect from every user and team administrator.

1. About these terms

These terms form an agreement between you and Rory Murphy, operating StoppageTime in a personal capacity (“StoppageTime”, “we”, “us” or “our”), when you create an account or use the app. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

StoppageTime is currently free. Our Privacy Notice explains how we use personal information.

2. Who can use StoppageTime

You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these terms. The service is designed for amateur football teams in the United Kingdom. Team administrators must not add a player who is under 18.

You must provide accurate account information, keep your password secure and tell us promptly if you think someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from our failure to protect it.

3. Team administrators

If you create or administer a team, club or league, you are responsible for the information you add and the permissions you give other members. You must:

  • tell players how their names and match information will be used;
  • have a lawful and fair reason to add, correct and share that information;
  • keep records accurate and deal promptly with reasonable correction or removal requests;
  • avoid adding health, injury or other sensitive information; and
  • hand over administrator access when you no longer manage the team.

If you are the only administrator and delete your account, we may promote another existing team member so the team is not left unmanaged.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of names, match reports, logos and other content you are entitled to own. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, calculate from, format and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the service, generate exports you request, and meet our legal obligations. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies that must remain temporarily in backups or anonymised match records.

You confirm that you have the right to upload or enter the content and that our use of it as described here will not infringe anyone else’s rights.

5. Fair use

Do not use StoppageTime to:

  • break the law, harass someone, impersonate someone or publish abusive, discriminatory or deceptive material;
  • add information you do not have permission or a lawful reason to use;
  • probe, disrupt, overload or bypass the service or its security;
  • scrape, copy or commercially exploit the service or other users’ data without permission;
  • upload malicious code or use automated access except through an interface we expressly provide; or
  • misrepresent unofficial statistics or graphics as official league records.

We may remove content or suspend or close an account where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate misuse or enforce these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain and give you a chance to appeal by contacting support.

6. Football data and fantasy points

Match data is entered by users and may be incomplete, disputed or wrong. Fantasy points and rankings are generated from the recorded data and selected scoring rules. They are for entertainment and team administration, are not official governing-body records, and must not be used for betting, selection, employment, medical or other high-stakes decisions.

Team scoring can differ from the standard scoring used in club and league views. Corrections may change historical totals and rankings.

7. Our service

We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use StoppageTime for its intended purpose. We and our licensors own the app, website, brand, design and software.

We aim to keep the service available and accurate, but it is provided on an “as available” basis. We may fix, change, pause or withdraw features, and cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every error will be corrected. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where practical.

The service is free at the date above. If we introduce paid features later, we will show the price and applicable terms before you buy anything; we will not start charging you automatically.

8. Account closure

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account in Account settings. Account deletion removes your login and personal profile link and anonymises the player record connected to you. Historical match facts and team totals remain so other players’ records are not broken.

We may end the service or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, a security risk or a legal requirement. Where practical, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to export or correct information first.

9. Responsibility if something goes wrong

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.

StoppageTime is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, losses caused by information entered or shared by another user, or business losses arising from consumer use of this free service. You remain responsible for keeping independent copies of information that is important to your team.

10. Changes and legal terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service, security or law. We will post the updated terms here and give additional notice for material changes. Continuing to use the service after the new terms take effect means you accept them.

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it. You may not transfer this agreement without our permission; we may transfer it as part of a genuine reorganisation or sale if your rights are not reduced.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you can bring proceedings in the courts that apply where you live in the United Kingdom.
